We are located in St. John’s-in-the-Vale, a dramatic yet very peaceful valley running from Threlkeld towards Thirlmere, about 4 miles south-east of Keswick. We are perfectly situated for those who wish to bag Wainwrights, explore the many local mountain-biking trails, compete in the Fred Whitton or even achieve success in the Bob Graham Round challenge. Equally, a short drive from both Keswick’s famous Theatre by the Lake and Wordsorth’s Dove Cottage, Fornside Farm is a great spot for those with cultural interests to pursue on their holidays.
GETTING HERE BY CAR
We are 15 miles from the M6. We are on the B5322, 3 miles south of the A66 at Threlkeld.
Fornside is set back off the road and is accessed by a private track. We have ample car parking adjacent to the cottages and an EV Charger for those already embracing the electric car future!

GETTING HERE BY TRAIN
The nearest train station is at Penrith, 17 miles away.
There are regular buses that travel from Penrith to Keswick.
The 555 bus will then take you from Keswick to Bridge End Farm at Thirlmere, one mile away.
Taxis will also collect from the station.
