It has been wonderful to have so much positive feedback from guests (thank you!) both about some of the little changes we have made already, as well as about us as hosts. All in all, a really positive first season in our new venture here at Fornside Farm. We now have four geese, making up quite the motley crew, as well as the ducks and chickens of course. Our latest addition is a Hungarian Vizsla puppy, Vellyn, who is currently bringing energy and chaos – in equal measures – to family life!
The changing colours of Autumn were stunning to behold with every week bringing, seemingly, a different view here in the Vale. As well as continuing to explore our stunning new Lake District surroundings, we recently undertook a new local challenge specially designed for families to walk together and raise funds for MS. It was a very windy day, which added to the excitement and sense of achievement whilst climbing Causey Pike, and then the wonderfully positive checkpoint volunteers motivated us with warm smiles, oranges and lots of yummy cake! The boys did brilliantly (and, being a tad competitive, were pleased to smash the five-hour target time). Whilst the 10in10 and 5in5 MS challenges have been a proven Lake District success for some years, this was the first family 5in5 challenge and we would highly recommend active families to partake in next September’s weekend event.
