Fornside Farm is idyllic and a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of modern life. There are four self catering holiday cottages, beautifully converted from stone barns alongside the traditional Grade II listed farmhouse. The setting is a stunning location at the foot of the Helvellyn range, surrounded by dramatic Lakeland scenery. Peacefully located yet within easy reach of Keswick, Grasmere, Ambleside and all the other attractions of the English Lake District National Park.
The farm is set back from the road with direct access to the fells and beautiful countryside. The fields surrounding the holiday cottages are home to livestock; mainly sheep and free range hens. We also keep ducks and geese, whose antics keep everybody amused. We keep Oxford Sandy and Black pigs (in the Spring and Summer) and a few beehives, which yield the most scumptious honey. You are welcome to meet and feed our animals during your stay on the farm. We usually have fresh eggs from our free range hens available to buy, some of which are enormous and all of which are delicious. In Spring, our ducks and geese also lay yummy eggs.
The cottages retain many original features and provide spacious accommodation of a very high standard, with top-end Sealy mattresses and cosy 10.5 tog duvets to ensure your holiday leaves you feeling well rested, John Lewis sofas and other quality brand items. The accommodation is well equipped, warm, and welcoming with full central heating included in the price; underfloor downstairs and radiators / towel rails upstairs. Each cottage has a wood-burning stove for that extra holiday hygge feeling. And from all the cottages the views are spectacular, simply look out of any window and you get a picture postcard view.
Two of our cottages are now ‘dog-friendly’ (The Old Byre and Swaledale Garth), whilst Rigg Barn and Herdwick Fold will remain pet-free.
We have an EV charging point for the exclusive use of our cottage guests.
When you arrive, we will give you a warm welcome and are on hand to offer advice on activities and places to eat, but are just as happy to leave you to enjoy a relaxing holiday here at the farm.

WELCOME PROVISION
Upon your arrival you will find a small welcome provision, which includes a box of eggs freshly laid by our (very) free range hens, Fairtrade tea and (cafetière) coffee, sugar and milk from Cumbrian cows. We like our guests to be able to relax and have at least a cuppa before having to think about supplies.
