St John’s in the Vale is a scenic and peaceful valley running from Threlkeld towards Thirlmere, about 4 miles east of Keswick. It nestles between the craggy slopes of the Helvellyn range and the lower but equally stunning ridge of High Rigg and Low Rigg.
Fornside is set back from the road, with direct private access to the fells. The Helvellyn range of mountains is directly behind the farm and there are magnificent views of Lonscale Fell, the slopes of Skiddaw and Blencathra.
The local area offers a choice of excellent country pubs within 3 miles, and a wide range of shops, restaurants and pubs in Keswick, just 10 minutes drive away. Keswick also has a cinema, renowned theatre, museums and pool.
As well as suggesting routes for walks, we can offer guidance on a wide range of local activities and sports including golf, fishing, sailing, canoeing, horse riding, ghyll scrambling, climbing, quad biking and even paragliding.
