Having spent the winter renovating and lovingly refurnishing our holiday cottages, we were delighted to receive a ‘Four Star with Gold Accolade’ rating. The glowing report concluded: “The owners and housekeeper are to be commended on their attention to detail evident throughout. Sparkling and pristine – what more could you ask for?”
We are very excited about our latest project – to give each cottage its own outdoor seating area. Rigg Barn always had its own space and we replaced all the picnic tables last summer and added another by the stream, so there is plenty of outdoor space for all here at Fornside. Additionally, we want our holiday guests in the three white cottages to be able to take advantage of the morning sun right outside their doors. Having had to dig this area out for the Ground Source Heat pipes, it made sense to bring this plan forwards. The landscapers are doing, we think, a superb job of the stonework and we are very excited about how this area will look and feel when it is complete.
We were recently proud to host the Cricket World Cup for a day! Our local cricket club has hit the headlines in the past for its daring and extreme cricket events; underwater, atop Blencathra and even on a frozen lake, all to raise money after its pitch was flooded. Threlkeld Cricket Club was therefore the ICC’s choice to partake in some ‘Fire Cricket’ as part of a Chris Stark challenge. Surrounded by fire extinguishing equipment and first aid teams at the ready, they spent a whole day filming the short video at Fornside. Watch it here!
