Published on 21st October 2024 On Activities & Events, Recommendations, Turn your stay into a retreat

The Lake District, with its breath-taking landscapes, tranquil lakes, and majestic mountains, offers a perfect backdrop for yoga, mindful movement practices, meditation and healing through nature. Enhance your break with outdoor classes, nature retreats, and wellness workshops designed to connect you with nature and promote relaxation.

yoga keswick braithwaite

Take part in one of Jenni’s yoga classes through Yogifit :  Jenni, a personal trainer, yoga teacher and also running coach, offers yoga classes in Keswick and nearby Braithwaite.  Do look out for her special events; these are longer classes and workshops sometimes incorporating brunch or another activity.

tadasana yoga

yoga dacreRebalance, repair and reset your spinal movement patterns by booking a Foundation Training workshop at Soulands Studio in charming Dacre.  Foundation Training activates your posterior muscle chain, anchors the hips, decompresses the spine, and teaches you to take the burden of supporting the body out of your joints and put it where it belongs; in your muscles.  No matter your age or your fitness level, Foundation Training puts you on the path to wellness.

Soulands Studio Yoga

The beautifully appointed Soulands Studio hosts a variety of wellness, meditation and yoga workshops, so do check out their upcoming listings.

lakeland wellbeing

To foster your deep connection with the land and the elements, Jen from Lakeland Wellbeing works with the old ways, seasons and cycles of nature.  Choose from Reiki, Shamanic Healing, or a Wild Wellbeing group workshop including Moon and Forest Bathing!  Like us, Jen believes that to reconnect with nature is to reconnect with one’s self.

Lakeland Wellbeing have built a directory of all the wonderful holistic and wellbeing practitioners in Cumbria.   Whether your break here would be enhanced by a deep tissue massage, aromatherapy session, acupuncture or almost any sort of wellbeing therapy, this is a great place to look.  It already lists 130 brilliant practitioners across the county.

lake district wellbeing

Sarah from Lake District Wellbeing also offers Reiki, as well as Sound Healing and Breathwork to unblock, cleanse, energise and harmonise our body, mind and emotional systems.

whinlatter wellbeingIt’s always worth checking what is coming up on Whinlatter Forest’s events page.  You will find Jen (see above – Lakeland Wellbeing) offering some of her workshops here including Winter Solstice celebrations and offer Full Moon Women’s Circle experiences (expect visualisation, drumming, fire ritual and manifestation with other women in a supportive and nurturing circle, tea and cake of course), as well as other workshop providers who are able to incorporate this wonderful setting within their magical experiences.

wild swimming lake districtWild swimming is another fabulous way to rejuvenate the body and, quite literally, immerse yourself in the landscape.  Tarns and lakes abound and this book on the best spots comes highly recommended.

If you’re new to cold water plunging, or would simply feel more comfortable in a group, consider booking a session with a guide.  We’ve heard great things about Colin Hill and Diane Mangan.
